Prep your home for the spring market

March 24, 2015

Spring is here and with spring comes changes in weather that we have all been awaiting. There are a few spring cleaning items that you can do to help with all the spring showings that are bound to happen with this hot spring market!

Rake your leaves! If you have leaves left from the previous fall, rake them. Clean up your yard so it is easier for the potential buyers to see the lawn and all that your yard has to offer them. A simple step like raking can make a world of different when viewing homes and getting a feel for the space.

Clean up chipping paint on your window trim. With the harsh weather conditions that Minnesota tends to have, a simple step to keeping your home appealing to the eye is to clean up the paint. Window trim does chip due to the weather conditions and touching that up is a great way to not only make it look better, but also may steer you clear from any issues that could arise from an appraiser for the potential buyer.

Stack those boxes and get rid of the clutter! Keeping the rooms in your home easily accessible is very important. We always like to go in to a home knowing we can move around and get a good idea of how much space there is and at what capacity it could be used to. When everything is covered with boxes and random items, it truly makes it hard to see key features in the home. Also, keep your utilities clear so they are always accessible to contractors for any work that may need to be completed.

Tips for Winter Showings

December 16, 2014

If you are considering selling your home during the winter months or currently have yours for sale, there are a few things to remember. Looking at homes in the winter time can be a bit difficult when everything is covered by snow and hard to view. The Better Living Group is here to help and assist you make the sale of your home during the winter months as smooth as possible.

Keeping your driveway plowed and walks shoveled is very important. Even though we will be wearing our snow boots when looking at homes, it is still important to make everything easily accessible. Snow removal is an easy and efficient way to make potential buyers comfortable when viewing the home.

We all know how icy the side walks can be, even if you cannot see it. Salting or sanding your walk ways makes it a bit safer for people walking to and from your home.

If you would like to go a bit further, you could also shovel off your roof. This is a bit of a tedious task, however, it makes it easier for people to view the roof and see the general condition. The roof is a fundamental part of the home and is important to any who intend to purchase.

Showings: Homeowner Tips & Tricks

October 9, 2013

When selling your home, many Sellers ask how they should prepare when Buyers schedule a showing to walk through their house. Do I stage it? Do I put certain things away? There are many tips that we can give you when you are in the market to sell your home. In order to make the most amount of money in the most efficient amount of time, here are a couple of things to keep in mind.

First up, simplify. When your home is filled with all of your personal pictures and memories, it makes it harder for potential home buyers to walk through and picture themselves living out their future memories. Also, if there is just a few too many pieces of furniture to maneuver around, it will make it more difficult for the Buyers to see how large and useful the space will be for them. Clearing out and simplifying your house for sale will benefit both parties – as the Seller, you’ll be halfway done with packing before the sale, which will make your move less stressful and more enjoyable.

Second, the cleanest house always wins. Buyers will make an initial judgment about a home within the first few seconds of entering. Putting away your morning dishes, wiping down the main visible areas and vacuuming will benefit their initial reaction to entering your home. A clean and clutter free house is a great start to making the best out of selling your home.

If you are thinking about selling your home, or buying a home, give us a call. The market is hot, home prices are on the rise and interest rates are still historically low. We always want the best for our Buyers and Sellers and are readily available to help with all of your Real Estate goals and dreams.
